hmm, im not sure about this.

My grandad is lacto-ovo vegetarian although a lot of his diet consists of junk (refined) food and he’s nearly 95 and has no illness.

I think frequent physical activity is much more important. As long as you dont eat junk or meat all the time, I think it doesn’t matter so much.

The worst thing people can do is obsess about healthy eating (making set meal plans etc). Unless you’re a pro athlete that’s no fun way to live life.

Cooking allows absorption of some nutrients that you can’t get from raw. Dr. Furhman advocates half raw, half cooked veggies. Best of both worlds, and less chance of being deficient in some nutrients compared to all raw or all cooked. The types of cooking he advocates (steaming, making soups, water-sauteeing) have the least effect on enzymes, minerals, and pH. That would be more from frying, deep frying, high temp baking, grilling, roasting and such. Read his books. It’s all in there.

I believe that it is possible to stay healthy into ripe old age and to prevent, stabilise and even perhaps to reverse, many of the chronic degenerative diseases.

Underpinning all my research and advice is this simple fact. Given the right nutrition and lifestyle, our bodies have amazing powers of self-healing and regeneration.

Not by much. There are things in vegetables that aren’t in vitamins, many of which haven’t been identified yet. Not to mention the fiber you get from the veggies that aren’t in a vitamin.

It is very interesting to see that a very vocal “expert” on diabetic diets has gone “low catb”. See Mendossa-
    Diabetes Update Number 114: Low-Carb of January 1, 2008.
    Also he recommends Dr. Bernstein
Dr. Bernstein’s next LIVE Tele-Seminar is Wednesday, July 30, at 8:00 PM EST, 7:00 PM CST, 6:00 PM MST, and 5:00 PM PST.

    Hope for diabetics yet

Great presentation. Good to remind vegans not to endulge on grains.. But Fuhrman forgets a few things. You don’t have to cook to get your nutrients: 1) Take superfoods. 2) Juice veggies to get the nutrients. I also miss about cooking destroying enzymes, changing PH and converting minerals into inorganic ones..

I actually eat the bok choy raw on a whole grain bread with some creme cheese and tomatoes. Tastes great. I also eat the kale raw with some salad dressing. It’s better than cooking it so it doesn’t loose the nutrients.

There are a lot of cases of people going 100% and not doing so well digestivally. I think if its done right you become a super human but if you dont chew your food well, dont get alot of superfoods in the first few years of going 100% raw, you aren’t doing it quite right. Also in cold weather climates you have to compensate for you losing heat ( chinese medicine). I am sure D. Wolfe has a fix for that . You might want to contact their group about it. Otherwise around year 4 you can be ill.
