Okay I don’t understand what your beef is. I thought she did a good job.

I don’t know what follow up questions do you mean? She asked him follow up questions. It’s like we’re watching a different interview man.

It was one tough question answered 4 times. She should have had a follow up, and 3 more tough questions. Grill him hard. If she just wants to state her case, she should interview herself. I understand the concern, but this is a huge bill, and conservatives have many other concerns with it as well. I just think it would be more helpful to discuss this intelligently.

She was mostly reading what the health care part of the stimulus is and what the reaction of the people to it is - she set it up.

I thought it was a tough question.

I love tough questions, but all she did was state her position; that the bill will allow the government to override medical decisions that doctors make for their patients. She then repeated her statement over and over. Senator Spector had to repeat that he would change the language of the bill to clarify that the government has no such power 4 or 5 times. That was the only question of the whole interview, even though the Senator tried to bring up other problems that he had with the bill.

Are you saying you don’t like people being asked tough questions on TV?

Look at what most news organizations did with Blagojevich. A discrace.

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism,’ they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”
    - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

Specter I hope who ever runs against your treacherous ass, reminds the voters that you were part of this spend thrift lie the dems are calling stimulus. You should be ashamed of yourself, and you are a coward to cave.

Bunnicula71 you are right we have a lot scary pharmaceuticals and folks that are ready to dispense them. The New World Order is picking out the logo. To quote the Clash “should I stay or should I go.” I think the book”,Future Shock”had it right. When we fracture into a society of sub-cultures we are doomed. Lets put it back together cause I truly believe it takes a right and a left wing of the Eagle to fly. We must become that nation that believes in the pursuit of happiness not a handout.

Hehe, I just want my Soma.

Its been like “Brave New World” in some ways for a while. We are totally placated by a wide variety of pharmaceutical and botanical agents. We’ve got awesome stuff to play with.

When compared to 1984, it’s way more right on.

The big problem with totalitarianism is that it requires a lot of effort and dedication of resources to crawling up everyone’s ***. Beer and circuses are way, way better.

Oh dear the stupid is strong with this one, look I don’t pretend to know how it feels to be one of the thirty percenters- the backwash of society, but your knowledge of american economics is stunningly superficial. The GDP last year was 14 trilion and you believe that 1 trillion debt is going to get us into an depression? You guys best plan to date was changing the name of french fries to freedom fries! Stick to things like that and let the adults take care of the bigger problems you created

Our present health care system does have problems, but any one can walk into an ER and be seen by a DR . I have read Huxley ,to quote him “Within the next generation I believe that the world’s leaders will discover that infant conditioning and narco-hypnosis are more efficient, as instruments of government, than clubs and prisons, and that the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience.”

Well, if you elevate personal choice, defined very broadly, above all other concerns, there’s no discussion. Its obvious to me that you’re either young and healthy, well insured, or both.

While you or I might have options based on personal choice, many other people have no choice but to suffer, die, go bankrupt, etc.. Minus insurance in the USA, you will be ruined by ANY serious illness or accident.

The whole healthcare system needs to be scrapped and retooled

Government meddled health care into this mess.

That’s what government does. They ruin an industry with their meddling, and then come in to “fix it.” Which always means less personal liberty (choice), higher costs (in both $ and quality) and more government control.

WTH these idiots want to imitate the UK system, which is the absolute worst in the world, is beyond me.

Kennedy and Specter would be dead by now if the ghouls’ Eugenics Amendment was in place.

haha hilarious it’s not socialism when we do it! You are perfectly fine with taxpayers paying your parents health bills, but at the same time you want to whine that democrats are socialists.
Typical republican hypocrisy, you are right this hasn’t been going on for five years, it all started with that tax and spend republican named Ronnie. Instead of the party of Lincoln you are now remembered as the party of Rush Limpo, the Wasilla hillbilly and Sam the plumber.
